This is my son’s first year at Northwest Middle School and he is thriving. He has a 504 plan and all his teachers work hard to honor it and give him what he needs to be successful. He was really struggling at his previous school and now has been an honor role student all year. It’s clear that the teachers really care about students here.

Love the new principal. Has really shaped up the school. Great programs and offers lots of advanced placement classes. Based on the acceptances to top schools and I think the changes are in the right direction.

We have children in multiple grades at Campbell and have been more than pleased with the school! All the teachers are caring and work hard to ensure that my child is comfortable in the environment and grows academically. It is a diverse school where ALL students and families are valued. There are multiple programs that make this school unique including a full media production studio, creative action arts integration during and afterschool, performing arts programs including step, dance and cheer and prime-time after school/summer enrichment programs. My children have all found ways to be increasingly engaged in school through these programs. Principal Moore is an exemplary leader and the students and teachers thrive under his leadership. We appreciate how caring and firm he is with the students. The students know the expectations and are rewarded for their hard work. We are zoned to a highly ranked school and chose to do a transfer to Campbell after touring many campuses. We truly believe Campbell is a hidden gem and are happy that we found it!

In reflecting on my education experience with an inadequate Individualized Education Program (IEP), I would rate it as 2 out of 5. The IEP's intention to cater to my specific learning needs fell short due to a lack of personalized teaching methods that aligned with my learning style. The support system outlined in the IEP was often inaccessible, leading to feelings of isolation and a lack of support. Additionally, the rigid curriculum and lack of flexibility hindered my engagement and motivation. While there were occasional successes when accommodations were implemented effectively, overall, the experience highlighted the need for more tailored support and flexible teaching strategies to ensure meaningful learning outcomes.

This school was terrible. Just terrible. My son is autistic so I thought this would be a good fit. He was bullied and the CEO fought about the definition of bully. He came home sad because some kid kept making fun of him. The school has no special education program even though they say they do. There was no services or therapy. They learn nothing. Its basically a daycare and a bad one at that. They constantly complaining about lack of money. Your child is a dollar sign and if they are sick and don't come, the school doesn't get their funding. You can't go on vacation because they lose their funding. Just awful. I don't wish bad on anyone, but that school is terrible.

The school needs more rigor and a supportive learning for all children. My child did not feel emotionally safe at this school.

Joel Barlow is not as rigorous as it once was. The town needs to fix the schools to stay competitive with nearby towns.

The “Green Machine” slogan for this school is a gimmick. It is not a “premier” school as it claims. It keeps the doors open only by allowing whomever wants to go here in. There are accountability issues allowing kids to assault others and gang activity with no safety officer onsite. The school should be investigated and students on district transfer with dangerous behavior sent out. Instead the Administration hides it with an 8 foot black metal fence, locked gates, and cameras everywhere and makes every excuse to allow an unsafe school site persist. The school lacks boundaries and does not support families from the area. Don’t believe the scores for this school as it’s only a result of the recent senior class who were outliers and in one of the school’s academies. The good teachers here complain of how poorly the school is run and many are leaving as a result. The school is challenged by inadequate resources and my students learned very little in their time here. Students are not well prepared for competitive colleges if that’s what your are interested in. My take is good students cannot focus on the classroom and worry for their safety. Instead they are taunted by some awful kids (pants down, ski masks, gang tattoos, ankle monitors, in groups out to intimate others) who any rational adult would question is this ok and should it be tolerated. The police department in the city doesn’t think so but the school does not want better cooperation from law enforcement to help. The leadership spends its time instead shaming females for their clothes like tank tops and shorts, and would rather turn a blind eye to the sagging pants and bottoms out everywhere. Go take a good look for yourself and I am glad we’re moving on and will not look back.

The school does not have a welcoming and good educational environment. The interaction of the students is clique, which makes it hard for new students to assimilate. The teachers seem very interested in helping the students learn but there is an issue with the administrative staff. They will question your child and intimidate them so advise your child to have a parent present if questioned. The Staff appears to be enthusiastic for the school and students but below the surface we did not find a very caring place for our student to excel.

My daughter attended the school in 2021/2022. This school is designed to minimize teacher work under the disguise of Montessori. Poor organization at drop off. Kids were drop off and sometimes I had to look for a helper to make sure I was not leaving her by herself. During the day, very little teacher-led activities. They heavily rely on “the stations”… but there are so many times a 3/4 yr old can play with a puzzle. Many times I would pick her up and I would see kids laying on the floor by the classroom door… doing nothing with one helper for the entire class. One theme is that they were heavily understaffed. Not a hands on school; demand high accountability to parents and teachers — but that is not reciprocated. If I could do it all over again, I would probably look for alternatives Liz

I do not recommend it with children who have ADHD who attend this school since they do not have the help that these children need.

They have no communication skills, told they are too busy to communicate with parents by the principle. Theyll just call the police department if they have an issue with you, scare your child, and push you away. Academics are not too great, my child has strive since leaving.

CNS is a great school. I'm a sophomore myself and even though I've only had one year of experience here, I truly believe that this is one of the best schools that you can have your kids go to. The teachers are supportive and all staff members are respectful and ready to help.
